The Gabriel Method Weight Loss – Progress Report

Gabriel Method Supplements

It’s been a while, hasn’t it! I have just been run off my feet and didn’t have time to post any more. But today I just wanted to update you all on my progress with the Gabriel Method weight loss. If you have read my earlier posts, I am sure you are keen to know how I am going now!

Well, I am in about 3 weeks now or so, and so far I haven’t lost any weight yet, I am going to be honest about it. I have not changed my eating habits at all, all I have done was start drinking my 8 glasses of water every day and add a little more fruit and vegetables to my diet. I try to eat more healthy, but I still have the occasional doughnut or piece of chocolate (health benefits of chocolate, remember?). I am going really well with my water intake, since I started drinking actual “glasses” – and I drink each glass in one hit! – I have no trouble at all getting on my daily quota. What a difference to when I was constantly carrying my water bottle around, trying to drink 3 refills a day!

Anyway, I am sticking quite well to the Gabriel Method so far (I think). I am listening to the CD every night and imagine my ideal body like I told you in my post about weight loss without dieting. I bought all the supplements he suggests in the book and am religiously taking them every day, just as he says you should. I found it very helpful to write myself a little list of things I have to take morning, midday and evening and stick it on my coffee machine. In the past I kept forgetting supplements when I wanted to take them, and this little paper is a great reminder, and I haven’t missed one lot yet!

So – as I said I haven’t lost any weight, but I haven’t put on any either, which I think is good.  I supplement my body with the nutrients it needs, drink my water and try to eat more fruit and vegetables. And I really enjoy doing the visualization at night and listening to the CD – it is very calming and has made me a bit more mindful :) .

So what has happened so far, if anything at all? – Well, I do feel really good. I feel my skin has improved a little. I feel healthy and strong, and I definitely haven’t lost faith in the Gabriel Method. As this weight loss method is a lifestyle changing way of achieving and maintaining a healthy weight for yourself, it can take a while before it kicks in. Jon talks about that in his book, too. Remember, quick and restrictive diets don’t work in the long run. They shed some kilos in the short term, but over time most people just put the weight back on, plus some. Because anything restrictive just can’t be maintained for a longer period of time.

I will keep you posted on my progress!

    Hi Petra,

Weight loss is achievable in the long run and you are on the right track with what you’re doing now I think. Drinking enough water is the absolute must.

Since you didn’t mention which supplements you are taking I would like to also suggest green tea.

Green tea helps burn fat and if you can drink green tea instead of coffee it will be of big help. (coffee increases insulin level as well as that of cortisol – both hormones induce the body to store fat).

A green tea supplement of course will work faster than drinking the tea, unless you drink it often.

In any case I look forward to reading of your further progress.

Hi Petra, good on you for being honest. And thanks for sharing your story. I’ve been following your blog for some time now, I quite enjoy reading your posts and occasionally I feel compelled to leave a comment =)

Are the before/after pictures of ‘Gabriel’ real? If so, that’s nothing short of incredible! It’s interesting to hear that the program involves visualisation techniques. I’ve been noticing more and more people claiming to have had excellent results by visualising their goals on a daily basis. And not just for weight loss.

Anyway, thanks for an interesting read.

@Linda, I do believe that the before and after pictures of Jon Gabriel are real. His whole weight loss approach is pretty “stunning”, to put it into a word. I still believe in it, I just don’t know why it is not working for me yet. Might be because I have some underlying eating disorder problems which I am trying to come to terms with, too. I am not ready to talk about it yet though. :|

      1. Linda from Slimming says:

        Hey again Petra,

Yes it looks like an intersting program. It’s very intriguing and I’d definitely like to find out more … but it hasn’t worked for you.

Those before/after shots are incredible. If that guy went from that to that, then it must really be something special. I’m going to look into it some more I think. And perhaps even review it myself if I can get hold of a copy.

As for a possible underlying eating disorder, I don’t want you to feel like I’m prying, but sometimes talking about things like that can make you feel MUCH better, and can actually enable you to come to terms with any issue you might have. I’m not saying you should blog about it (although you could do if you really wanted to get it out in the open) but perhaps just talk to omeone close to you?

Anyway, I wish you the very best.

Linda, I have been seeing a psychologist for just about a year now and we are making progress, and I also have very good friends to talk to. It certainly helps. Thank you so much for your encouragement!

Oh how many times have I been on and off, never lasts though, my problem is get invited out and after a few drinks fancy a late night bar, drink into the following morning, maybe kebab and chips. Thats only part of the problem though, because its the following day when you want comfort food, and your even weaker willed, anyway I am going to try again.I have bought myself a top quality juicer and I have started to get into juices and steamed fish, and poultry, lets see how it goes. Motivation and routine is the key, if only I had listened to the advice some years ago “do something about your weight as its harder to shift the oolder you get”, huh, how true.

Sounds interesting what your doing, can you add RSS feeds so I can monitor your results as this sounds quite interesting, especially for a tryer like me.

My guess is that the Gabriel method is linked with the power of mind, visualizations, and deep mind levels . In my experience affirmations are useful to change deep rooted habits, so I vote for this kind of systems to achieve a suitable weight.

    1. Petra Weiss says:

Henrik, I did follow the Gabriel Method for a few weeks, I took the supplements and did the visualisation, but I did not change any of my eating habits – I was waiting for my body to lose the excess appetite I have, but it never really happened. I felt great though during the whole time, and I truly believe that what Jon teaches in his book will be hugely beneficial for anybody who is trying to lose weight, even if it is only to understand how your body relates to food, exercise and nutrition. I have learned an awful lot and enjoyed reading the book thoroughly. Lots of people have lost a lot of weight following his method, – I might not have been diligent enough with my visualisation, and I also have an underlying eating disorder which might have hindered my success. Who knows! But I still can recommend “The Gabriel Method”!

I think you forget to check for the amount of sugar in processed food. There are about 20 or more names for sugar, including corn syrup.
Those stupid manufacturers are really wicked. They dont use the word sugar, so that we dont know we consume so much empty calories per day.
