Yes, you heard right – a new aera begins, right here, right now! See, I have been seeing a doctor about every 4 weeks to discuss my attitude towards food, and when I was there a couple of days ago and told her that I literally stand on the scale AT LEAST 2 times a day (morning and night), she was quite shocked and gave me a challenge; she said to simply get rid of them! She said to actually throw them out, or give them away to somebody else (!!!), but as I have such a relationship with my scales I decided to just put them in the back corner of our big shed where will be hard to get to them. So, they are gone…. Continue reading →
When it comes to eating “good” stuff I guess we all tend to get a bit lazy sometimes. I mean, yes we should eat maybe a salad for lunch or something like that, but all that preparation in the process can put you off right from the start. At least that’s it with me!
So I am very pleased today to let you know of a salad “recipe” (might not even call it that!) of Low GI Foods (yes, because I still love low GI!) that is super easy to make and tastes great! I actually have it very often, whenever I am – lazy, that is! Continue reading →
Ok, I am back home in Australia since Monday night, 1am. Completely exhausted, stuffed full with airline food (which can taste bloody nice if eating is pretty much the only thing you can do on a long flight!), happy to be back “home” in Australia, but also very sad to have had to leave my other “home” Germany. That’s one of the pitfalls that’s hit me after I decided to move to another country after growing up somewhere else – whenever I am in Australia, I will miss Germany, and when I am in Germany, I will miss Australia! Torn between two homes – I am sure some of you can relate to that!
Anyway, back to taking stock of my holidays: I am happy to report that even though I went to a lot of festivals and had a lot of yummy German food, the end result is not as shockingly bad as it could have been – only 1.5 kg gained in 4 weeks! I think that’s ok.
As you might know by now, I am in Germany on holidays. Unfortunately that means all the good and rich food that I was so accustomed to (and loved!) when I was still living here. As a result, my weight is slowly creeping back up again right now. I mean, who can say no to all the goodies you remember from when you were young and can’t get any more now? It would be ridiculous to walk away from them, right? Continue reading →
As I said before I am on holidays in Germany right now, and the weather has unfortunately not been so great the last few days. So I had to look for something to do with the kids that would be fun and indoors. Well, a good friend of mine suggested a visit in the Ritter Sport Chocolate Factory in Waldenbuch, just a few villages away from where we live – you can have a look how chocolate is made, and then there is a fantastic shop where you can buy all their chocolates for a reduced price. Well, me being a chocoholic – and knowing about the health benefits of chocolate -, that was a suggestion I couldn’t refuse! Continue reading →
I am writing this post sitting in the attic at my parents place in Germany. Last week Saturday me and my kids left for a holiday to visit the grandparents – and I love Germany in Summer. There are little festivals everywhere with lots of fantastic food and drink, and of course if you go and visit the place where you grew up and spent nearly 30 years of your life, there are lots of old friends and relatives to visit, and there is one thing you will never be short of: food. I knew I was in for a challenge! Continue reading →

I think I have found my diet solution! I am quite excited – it takes my LowGI to the next level… but first: I have decided to make this blog a little bit more personal. Have you also got your own weight loss blog? Then you should head over to John Is Fit and check out the Weight Loss Blog Contest he has put up for the month of June. He has got several prizes to give – the top prize being $250 in cash!
While you are there it will be worth having a bit of a snoop around – John has got a great blog going, and he is very honest with his personal weight loss journey.
If you are binge eating at night, you are for sure not alone! So many of us do struggle with this specific problem, and it is one of the reasons why the weight we so desperately want to lose does not come off. Continue reading →
No matter how long you have been trying to lose weight, you will probably have come across a myriad of diet programs and supplements claiming to be the revolution in weight loss.
Whilst it can be said with confidence that most of these claims are really just not true, the Low GI Diet program is one to deliver what it promises, and it is a very healthy and nutritious diet too. Continue reading →
Have you noticed that all of us who want to lose weight are lapping up any kind of information we can get on (healthy) weight loss, diets, pills and the likes? It is like an addiction in itself – because we are unhappy with the way we look we are always trying to make it better and hope in the next magazine or book or article on weight loss we will find the solution.
Just last night the finale of The Biggest Looser Australia was on, and I sat glued to the TV. It was truly amazing! I am sure if you have ever tried to lose weight you will have watched the Biggest Looser at some stage or another. What the contestants go through and how they transform themselves is absolutely inspirational.
This year, at the Biggest Looser Australia, the contestants have lost numbers (in weight) that are hard to believe. They have smashed all records on the show. Even the trainers Bob and Michelle were “gobsmacked”.
I decided to put the final weigh in of the final 4 contestants for the Biggest Looser up here on my site, because it is just so great to watch.
Enjoy!
(P.S. The misspelling of The Biggest Looser is intentional… has to do with my websites ranking – I know it is “Loser”)
If you are thinking about buying Hoodia Gordonii, you might be concerned about any side effects this weight loss supplement might have.
Even though it is known that the natives in South Africa have been consuming Hoodia for centuries without any problem to suppress their appetite on their long hunting trips, we cannot compare their use of this plant to how it is being used today in the Western World. It is a fact that the bushmen didn’t use it every day, and not in supplement form either, like it is being sold to us now. Should you therefore be worried about any Hoodia Gordonii side effects?Continue reading →
When it comes to losing weight many, many people think it is just about eating less and doing more exercise. But that’s not true! Matter of fact is that if you are not in the right state of mind for your weight loss, you might as well not start at all (sorry, but that’s the truth!).
It is proven that it is important to prepare yourself mentally for your weight loss journey and the lifestyle changes you are about to undergo. Because any lifestyle change requires the changing of habits, you need to be strong enough mentally to be able to work through the tough times when trying to change your old habits.
But how do you prepare yourself mentally for weight loss? Continue reading →
