Healthy Weight Loss – Why Do We Keep Eating???


Have you noticed that all of us who want to lose weight are lapping up any kind of information we can get on (healthy) weight loss, diets, pills and the likes? It is like an addiction in itself – because we are unhappy with the way we look we are always trying to make it better and hope in the next magazine or book or article on weight loss we will find the solution.

I think we should stop kidding ourselves!!!

If you really think about it, I believe that most (if not all) of us know exactly how we can get rid of the extra weight – I mean, c’mon, it’s fairly easy to remember: eat less and healthier, and exercise more!!

Why then can’t we stop looking for the miracle cure that will make our weight loss so much easier and faster? Haven’t we realized by now that the only real way it can happen permanently is by doing simply that: eating healthier, eating less and exercising.

It seems that these are things that are extremely hard, if not impossible, for us to do. We keep caving in to temptation, we tell ourselves that tomorrow we can start again, and suddenly weeks and months have gone by and we still haven’t shed the kilos. How frustrating is that? We are wasting our time!!! And I have to say I am probably one of the worst, I have that scenario every day…I know exactly what to do. I even get through the day pretty good most of the times, eat healthy, eat less…. but then comes the evening and all is blown out the window. It starts with one piece of chocolate and then comes the crash. And – tomorrow is another day!

I would like to know whether any of you have any opinions why it is that we cannot simply start living the healthier lifestyle. Is it really that hard? It seems to be impossible sometimes!

  1. Very interesting thoughts here. I would say that of course it is hard to exercise every day and eat less if you were eating much more in the past. But you know everything is about psychology i think. You must realize that your life is passing on, that time is going very quickly, and if you want to be slim in this life, you must to do it RIGHT NOW. You must realize that you are wasting your single life, you are wasting the priceless thing. And then you have to frighten yourself that you are getting older but not slimmer and that you will not have such a chance in your entire life. You must think about something like an objective in your life and reach it. Good luck to you in this hard process of loosing weight!

    I think one of the big things for me is that it’s just so easy to NOT maintain a healthy lifestyle. It’s just easy to have access to non healthy foods. Fast food places, microwave meals. I think one of the big things for me is that I’m so busy (or THINK i’m so busy) that I don’t think i’ll have enough time to get healthy food ready. A good thing for me is to remember that i need to TAKE time to make a good, healthy meal. Anyway, I don’t know why it is that we can’t STAY healthy but I really hope we can figure something out to stay healthy!

      @Plate Rolls, you are touching a very big point here – in our lives of today we have so many “unhealthy” food choices thrown at us that are so much easier to get than freshly prepared, healthy meals, that it can be very hard to resist temptation! I, too, hope to find a way to stay healthy!
