I think I have found my diet solution! I am quite excited – it takes my LowGI to the next level… but first: I have decided to make this blog a little bit more personal. I believe it will be more entertaining to my readers (you!) 🙂 and I probably have a bit more to say if I talk about my weight loss, too! I hope you will enjoy the new “Healthy Diet Weight Loss” Blog!

So, you might have noticed that my weight loss ticker has finally started to move down a notch. Over the past few days I have lost 1 kg, and I am really proud of myself. Do you want to know how I did it?

Well, there are so many ways out there on how you can lose weight, and everybody will be different on what works for them. I had been stuck at trying everything you can imagine to lose weight, and if you know as much about losing weight as I do, you will have a lot of choices! But I am an advocat for losing weight in a healthy way, so I was never really into any crash diets or anything like that.

What kick-started my weight loss after many, many weeks of stalling was the fact that I was asked to review a diet book which I had never heard of – The Diet Solution Program. I was actually quite honored to be asked to do a review, my first one! I had never been asked before, so this was quite exciting. Now, I cannot give you a review of the book yet because I have only just started on it, but I will try to do one a bit further down the track!

So I decided to have a bit of a poke around in the book (I actually received 6 guides, which I find great, I much rather have people to overdeliver than to feel like I have been ripped off!), and one of the first things I did was have a look into their Quick Start Guide. When it comes to losing weight, we all want a quick start, don’t we! Anyway, there was an interesting little test I decided to take, the “Metabolic Typing Test”. Apparently there are 3 metabolic types, the protein type, the carb type and the mixed type. Which type you belongs to determines what kind of food you can eat MORE of to keep your health optimal and your metabolism up to speed.

Here is a short quote from The Diet Solution Program:

“Learning your metabolic type will help you to lose weight in a safe and healthy manner, once and for all, and achieve optimum wellness. It also will produce long-term results without the starvation and cravings that usually accompany most other diet plans.”

Well, after taking the test it turned out that I am the protein type, which suits me fine as I love all kinds of meat, fish, poultry, eggs etc. Another quote:

…..”Protein Types need a diet high in proteins and fats and low in carbohydrates.”

Note it says “low in carbohydrates”, not NO carbohydrates. So no Atkins!

So that’s all I did – take the test and then read up a little on the foods I can eat as a protein type to be healthy and lose weight. And then I decided on what kinds of food I would eat during the day and at night. I also had a think about what has been working for me in the past, like the fact that I am not big with breakfast and can go quite well during the day without much food, but always have a problem to contain myself at night, and then I worked out what I would do to incorporate that into my new “Protein Type” eating. And I started seeing results – eating healthy food and not restricting myself!

In my next post I will go more into detail what I eat during the day, and what else is playing a big role in my new found weight loss success. Remember though: My metabolic type is “Protein”, what works for me doesn’t necessarily work for you. You really have to determine your metabolic type first 🙂
